The new M3 and M4 models have been delivered to plenty of houses around the world and the enthusiasts are now driving them on a daily basis. The accessories market for the two is now booming along with the tuning parts much needed by those that want to make a statement.
Macht Schnell is a company that doesn’t need any additional introduction if you’re one of the people that usually improves his/her ride right after buying it. They are mainly known for their wheel spacers but do make other sort of merchandise, in case you didn’t know.

One of their most recent products for the F80 M3 and F82 M4 range is a most popular tow strap. Available in 5 variations, they will surely bring a dash of color to your car’s bumpers but my question is: are they really necessary?

Tow straps are being used by enthusiasts to avoid damaging their or a friends car when.... well, they’re being towed. The classic tow hooks might damage a car in case of an impact but, to be honest, this choice never made sense to me.

Let’s say that someone is towing you, right? And you’re using one of these straps. First of all, you’d have to be extremely careful while being towed in order to avoid hitting the man/woman helping you out and, incidentally, driving in front of you. But let’s say that you’re not.

Let’s say that you’re texting your wife/husband, telling them that you’re on your way or going to be late for dinner and you end up hitting the car that’s towing you. Do you mean to tell me that there won’t be any damage because you’re using a tow strap instead of a hook?

If you get close enough to hit the other car with a tow hook and cause noticeable damage, I can guarantee you that there will be more to worry about than wondering if a tow strap could’ve done less damage. But maybe I’m crazy.

They do look nice, though and they cost $95 (a pair) which isn't a lot considering that they have a 6,000 lbs (2,721 kg) harness tensile Strength thanks to heavy-duty cross-stitching.
