Since in almost any country out there the rules are the same, we’re pretty sure this unlucky fellow lost the warranty he paid before renting the car. Sure, that is most likely his last problem, considering that he didn’t just torch a car that was not his, but he even suffered first and second degree burns in the incident. Here’s what happened.
Scott Kemery is getting to sit in the front seat at the news line-up today since the man sure is bad at taking wise decisions. Police say the Bridgehampton, New York resident poured alcohol over the insects, then sat in the car and lit a cigarette, which obviously set it on fire.

The next thing to do was flee the car and run for his life, of course, which didn’t just lead to the ruin of the auto but, according to Newsday, two others as well. If all that sounds normal, wait to hear the reason why the driver used alcohol against the insects.

Detective Sgt. Edward Fitzgerald told the source that someone mentioned to Kemery that if he saturated the bedbugs with alcohol it would kill them. Is that true? Well, not really.

Since they are known to feed on human blood, we can state we’re quite lucky. As far as we know, bed bugs are not known to transmit any pathogens as disease vectors. Their bite does itch like hell, and a number of adverse health effects may result from bed bug bites, including skin rashes, psychological effect and allergic symptoms.

And get this, bed bugs were, in fact, almost eradicated in the developed world at some point, but, unfortunately, they have increased in prevalence since 1995, likely due to pesticide resistance.

So what’s the best way to get rid of these annoying little fellows? Apparently a combination of non-pesticide approach and the occasional use of pesticide is the proper way. A combination of heat and drying treatments is most effective. Whatever you do, try not to use alcohol and then smoke in your car if you truly want to solve the problem.
