It was an inspired decision to make a 75 percent photo copy of the Quattroporte. Well, the two are a bit different, but the smaller Ghibli is somehow more enticing to the eye as an overall package. But in Ermenegildo Zegna clothes, Maserati did make it just a little more special and desirable than the bone stock standard specification Ghibli four-door saloon.
Recently unveiled in a concept form marketed under the Ermenegildo Zegna Edition moniker, this Ghibli is embodying an all-Italian partnership between two of the most fashionable names in the European country. This model follows in the footsteps of the Maserati Quattroporte Zegna Limited Edition, manufactured in just 100 examples.
So what about the Ghibli Zegna? Maserati and Ermenegildo Zegna got a stock Ghibli S Q4 (all-wheel drive) and gave it voguish bits and bobs to hike its appeal as a fashion statement, with the oily bits left completely untouched. That translates to a V6 twin-turbo engine displacing 3 liters, which send up to 410 horsepower and 550 Nm to all four wheels via a ZF-designed eight-speed automatic transmission.
Taking into account the 0 to 100 km/h (96 mph) run is dealt in 4.8 seconds and the top speed breaks the 284 km/h (176 mph) barrier, this Italian executive car is pretty impressive performance-wise, but how was it bettered by the famed Italian luxury fashion house?
To highlight the most eye-catching aesthetic changes, Ermenegildo Zegna beautified the Maserati Ghibli S Q4 in question with an elegant Azzuro Astro finish and 20-inch wheels wearing a silvery hue specially developed for this concept. As for the inside, Zegna designed a contrasting color scheme for the finest Italian leather available, further adding Zegna yarns.
Zegna anthracite micro-chevron silk, Poltrona Frau leather, rib embroidery on the door panels, together with sporty carbon fiber trim on the central tunnel and door sill plates made from machined billet aluminum are the elements that round off this posh concept car.
