McLaren 570S Coupe Promises 562 HP and Race-Derived Technologies

Nevermind the McLaren F1-inspired Papaya Orange-like paint. See those flying buttresses of the McLaren 570S Coupe? They’re taking me back to the time when Jaguar was selling the XJS with its beautiful flying buttresses, but more recently, Ford adopted them for the twin-turbo V6-powered GT supercar.

But as compared to the 2017 Ford GT, McLaren is trying something different with the 570S. This is the company’s entry-level supercar, not a tour de force like the Blue Oval’s GT. Therefore, the 650S-derived 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 motor was downrated from 650 PS to 570 PS, which translates to 562 HP.

Slated to debut at the New York Auto Show on April 1st, the company also informs that this car marks the first time McLaren Automotive will be offering its “race-derived technologies in the sports car segment,” whatever that may mean...
