Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class (X205) Interior Spied in China

Is it remotely surprising that the W205 C-Class’s cabin, dashboard, switchgear and all, is carried over by the 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class? Not really, especially if you consider that the GLK’s successor is the holder of the X205 internal codename.

As a brief reminder, the GLK will change its name into GLC for the second generation of the crossover SUV according to Mercedes’ new naming strategy. That C is there to tell you that the all-new GLC is the high-heeled ditto of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W205).

As you can see in auto.163.com’s spy photos, there isn’t much to separate the cabin of the W205 from the X205, but we don’t complain. Compared to the BMW 3 Series and the Audi A4’s interior design, we prefer what Merc has to offer sans the floating media screen.

Look more closely and you’ll spot that this Mercedes-Benz GLC is a China-spec car because of the Chinese logograms showed by the instrument cluster’s centrally-mounted digital screen. Underpinned by the German manufacturer’s MRA platform and slated to debut as soon as June, the GLC-Class will boast with the same engines as the outgoing Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Therefore, look for an entry-level GLC 220 BlueTEC 4Matic all the way up to a GLC 63 AMG variant that’ll pack the 4-liter biturbo engine of the Mercedes-AMG C63. No, the 1.6-liter four-banger of the C 180 BlueTEC isn't likely to arrive on the GLC-Class because of obvious reasons.

In related news, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class will spawn a plug-in hybrid variant, animated by a petrol-fed engine and an electric motor with a purported 279 HP and 600 Nm of torque (443 lb-ft).
