Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG Races Tesla Model S P85 with Aural Spectacle

In the world of trolling, there aren’t many cars that fit better in a drag race against a Tesla Model S that a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG. Affalterbach’s take on the Gelandewagen is basically a statement on not caring about anything else than sheer mechanical enjoyment and we’re not just teasing you with this, we have a clip that shows the two going head to head.

The footage shows the 536 hp G-Class battling out with the 416 hp Tesla Model S P85 and while we don’t want to ruin the fun and tell you which of the two won, we can mention the race was a tight one.

When to internal combustion engine-powered cars race, their engine voice complement each other on many occasions. Nonetheless, the Tesla is one silent runner here, but the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 under the hood of the G-Class was more than happy to make up for this.

In fact, the G63 AMG feels the entire drag strip with the aural spectacle of its engine. This shouldn’t come as any surprise though - the Affalterbach people have always had a special place in their hearts for the G-Class, hence gifting the car with an exhaust rumble that’s even more special than that of other AMG models.

While all this is entertaining, what we’re actually eager to see is a drag race involving Tesla’s brand-spanking-new Model P85D. This keeps the  rear motor, adding a another one up front.

When you get a 47 percent jump in power to 691 hp, you know interesting things are going to happen. We’ll probably have to wait a few months before seeing that one hit the strip, but it will all be worth our time.
