You know the old saying "when it rains it pours'? Well, it kind of translates as troubles always come in pairs and Mercedes-Benz is experiencing just that at the moment. After the last year’s recall in Germany, issues found their way across the pond into the United States of America and things could get messy without quick measures being taken.

The recall is set to affect an estimated total of 147,224 Mercedes-Benz models, but only E-Class and CLS-Class vehicles are affected across the United States. This number includes sedans, wagons, hybrids and even AMG performance versions from the 2013-15 model years.

The affected vehicles have a rubber seal at the back of the engine which could temporarily stick to the hood when it is open and may later fall into the engine bay when the hood is closed back.

Normally, this wouldn’t have been such a biggie but if the rubber seal falls into the engine compartment and touches hot parts of the exhaust system, there’s the risk of fire and it’s better to be safe and sorry in these conditions.

The remedy for the problem is a rather simple one, but it has to be applied by Mercedes-Benz dealers in order to avoid unpleasant situations: mechanics will just have to simply attach four additional retaining clips to the rubber seal, free of charge.

Mercedes-Benz USA will notify owners about the recall campaign which is expected to kick-off by somewhere around mid-March 2015. For more details on the specific models affected by the recall, feel free to have a look at the release attached below.
