Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG with Akrapovic Exhaust Sounds Insanely Good

Will we ever get tired of listening to V8 exhaust sounds? But that's not the real question here: what we should be asking is "will you"?
With all the talk around AMG's new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, we've already forgotten about the monster powering the now-defunct Affalterbach top dog. It was a 6.2-liter V8 developing 563 hp (571 PS) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm), and it's fair to assume it sounded like a thunderstorm in a tin can.

But then came the exhaust specialists at Akrapovi who changed the piping on this white SLS AMG you'll see in the video below. The Slovenian tuners renowned especially for their insanely loud motorcycle exhausts gave this SLS the kind of sound that would get the driver arrested in some countries if he drove the car at night.

You can see it doesn't need much to deploy its full array of acoustic tricks, with the sound coming out of those parallelepipedic exhausts being sweet enough even while standing still.

A quick 100 yards acceleration run brings out an even larger range of sounds, with the usual roar now accompanied by the mandatory set of AMG cackles that occur the instant the accelerator pedal is released.

The footage was taken during the Top Marques event held in Monaco, so seeing this kind of cars parading around wasn't really such an occasion for those people there. Still, the second the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG went into the tunnel and was forced to reduce speed by the slower traffic, the series of bangs that followed must have captured everyone's attention.

A loud exhaust system on a low power car is the perfect example of tackiness, but installing them on already spectacular cars such as the SLS AMG only raises their dramatic effect to new heights; and the hairs on your back as well.
