Golf wrapping is back! Actually, when has it ever been gone? Sure, it might not be as popular today as it was last year, but the results are spectacular. The CLS four-door coupe is one of the first cars we ever saw covered from head to toe in shiny vinyl, a couple of years ago. Now it's back under the spotlight with a project that's been put together by the Miami specialists at MC Customs.
They took an already impressive 2014 CLS 63 AMG and gave it new life with gold wrap and a custom set of wheels. Mind you, US customers can't yet buy the CLS-Class mid-life facelift, so this is about as good as it gets.
The wheel set chosen comes from Vellano and is codenamed VM18. It's a monoblock design that kind of reminds us of Lamborghini's sets, but it's hard to think of a new design that nobody has done before. Sized 21-inch, the wheels give off an exotic car look that matches the gold wrap. Together, this Miami-dwelling Mercedes coup' looks like the weekend car of a sheik from Abu Dhabi.
We think this picture looks incomplete without a quick mention of what's under the bonnet. AMG's hand-built 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 is a fire-breathing monster that all Mercedes fans know about. On US-spec cars, pumps out 550 horsepower and is good for 0 to 60 in 4 seconds. In a car that seats four comfortably, it really does raise the question "who needs a Lamborghini anyway?".
