The Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 won’t let other off-roaders live even when it’s going out of production. In fact, Mercedes-Benz’s idea of a six-wheeled Terminator is back to haunt us in a new video showing the car’s Hulk-ish personality.
Tuscany’s rocky landscape was the G63 AMG6x6’s playground this time, as Mercedes-Benz took advantage of the unfriendly area to show-off those carbon fiber fender flares but also squeeze the most out of its five differential locks.
Mercedes-Benz is twisting the knife here by showing this video since the Stuttgart-based carmaker won’t be making the G63 AMG 6x6 anymore. We’ll also miss the 5.5-liter V8 engine but as we saw in Geneva, Mercedes are not just giving on all-wheel drive monsters.
No sir, they are not because the Mercedes-Benz G500 4x4² is their latest larger than life offspring. Truth is, the G500 is not as powerful as the G63 6x6 but we won’t hold that against Mercedes. As a matter of fact, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine produces 422 HP and shares DNA with the AMG GT, not to mention that the G500 4x4² was fitted with the all-wheel drive system with portal axes from the 6x6.
Judging by the massive amount of popularity enjoyed by the G63 AMG 6x6, the G500 4x4² is likely to have a big piece from that pie, especially in the Middle East. Expect to see one popping-up in Dubai’s police fleet in the near future, but until then, the mighty Mercedes G63 6x6 deserves another bow from the audience.
