Ever since Mercedes told the world it could have produced a Sports Activity Coupe before the BMW X6 arrived, we've been getting a feeling that there's an all-out war between the two parties. Every massive battle starts with the arms race and that's the case here as well, since only weeks after the GLC was revealed, the GLC Coupe looks ready for production.
The following video was taken in Stuttgart by spotter Walko, who may have captured a basic GLC 220 d Coupe on film. Because the new Mercedes design language has been applied so uniformly, we can barely tell the difference between the GLC and GLE models nowadays.
The chopped version of the GLK replacement will compete with the BMW X4 and possibly an upcoming Audi Q6. The segment is so aggressively being targeted that Mercedes doesn't even have a four-door coupe based on the C-Class.
Every possible engine technology is likely to be thrown at this project. At the high end of the spectrum, we'll see a 367 PS 3-liter twin-turbo engine. However, Mercedes is likely to go even Above this SQ5 competitor with a hardcore GLC 63 AMG. We say that because with the exception of the B-Class, every one of their models got the Affalterbach treatment.
Want frugality? The GLC 350 e Coupe will give you that, with 4Matic all-wheel drive, we might add.
Nobody is going to be surprised by the arrival of the GLC Coupe because a preview concept was shown in Shanghai back in April. And in case you're worried about practicality, we'll tell you that the sports activity poser is the size of the first M-Class.
