Planning some criminal activities in Milan these days? Better make sure you have a very fast and agile getaway, as the Milan Police has just received two MV Agusta Rivale 800 and these guys are planning to actually ride them. The Varese manufacturer has donated two police-spec equipped Rivale 800 bikes to be used by a special department which takes care of fast response actions for general prevention and public help.
It is uncertain at the moment of writing whether the Milan Police Department has just received a “tactical gift” or is testing the bikes as part of a more ample plan to put more Rivale 800s on the streets of the Italian metropolis. The bikes have been painted in the colors of the Italian Police and received additional blue flash lights both the front and the rear, and a loud siren has most likely been added to the package. They will start patrolling the city immediately, so if you’re attending the EICMA 2014 you might just see them in action.

A mighty beauty queen

The MV Agusta Rivale 800 was introduced 2 years ago and won the title for the most beautiful bike at the EICMA 2012. However, there is so much more to this beauty queen than meets the eye, as its fluid, seductive shapes are hiding top-notch performance.

At the heart of the bike you can find an in-line DOHC triple packing 798cc of liquid-cooled displacement, which can produce 125 hp at 12,000 rpm, and a maximum torque of 84 Nm (61.9 lb-ft) at 8,600 revs, with the redline at the 13,000 rpm mark. The dry weight of the MV Agusta Rivale 800 is 178 kg (393 lb) which makes it rather agile, especially with a skilled rider with good handling performance.

With Marzocchi forks and a Sachs rear monoshock, both adjustable, ground tracking is top-notch. The bike reaches a top speed of 245 km/h (152 mph) and this will be more than enough to chase perpetrators in both the urban and the highway sectors.

Additionally, its sport, grippy tires and great leaning clearance will make the police version of the MV Agusta Rivale 800 a bike one definitely doesn’t want being chased by.

If we spot them at the EICMA you’re in for great shots. Photos, that is!
