MINI USA Wants to Take a Shot at World Record for Largest Parade of MINIs

MINI USA and MINI of Gran Rapids have teamed up to try and break a world record for the second time. With the cooperation of the St. Ignace Events Committee they will be trying to gather the biggest parade of MINIs ever recorded, on August 1st.

The parade is set to take place in St. Ignace, MI and will have the drivers that register for it driving across Michigan’s 26,372 feet (8 km) long Mackinac Bridge. Of course, it all depends on how many people will sign up first.

At the moment, the world record for this kind of event is held by the London and Surrey Mini Owners Club in the UK (of course, why am I not surprised?) that got together 1,450 MINIs back in 2009. 6 years ago, they filled the historic 2-mile auto racing circuit around the Crystal Palace Park in London.

“Last summer thousands of MINI owners joined us for an epic 5,000-mile rally across the U.S. during MINI TAKES THE STATES so we are really excited to see how many owners and friends join us this summer for MINI on the Mack,” said David Duncan, Vice President MINI of the Americas. “We anticipate the MINI community will gather in full force to once again cross the iconic Mackinac Bridge and try to break the world record!”

The motorists will gather along Interstate 75 and then begin a mass crossing of the Mackinac Bridge where the official count will be made. In order to sign up, head over to MiniontheMack.com. Needless to say that the only condition you need to fulfill is to own a MINI and be available on August 1st.

After the event is over, the participants will be invited at Little Bear East Arena in the city for lunch, entertainment and prizes. Later on, you can also take part at the Bayside Music Festival in downtown St. Ignace. Sounds fun!
