You might’ve heard about Langley, Virginia, the place where the famous Central Intelligence Agency has its headquarters but we’re pretty sure you never heard of Langley, Washington. Nothing very interesting ever happens there but today, we’re taking a closer look as something of value has come up on our radar.
There’s a mint 1971 BMW 2002 up for sale over there and the offer isn’t bad at all. At the moment, the bidding for it reached $6,000 and if we’re to believe the ad, it’s quite a good deal.
2002’s have recently come up in the spotlight due to the association with the new M235i model BMW launched this year. Considered the spiritual forefather of the modern incarnation, the original car is (and was for a long time) regarded as a benchmark in performance and handling.
This particular car was owned by the current driver for the last 11 years, during which time it was restored as much as possible. According to the seller, it has new brake calipers and cylinders, an E21 5-speed gearbox, limited-slip differential (LSD) and just 18,000 miles (29,000 km) on the clock.
There is some rust on the rockers, especially on the driver’s side, even though the car was repainted not too long ago. Other details include a pair of Recaro 320i seats inside the cabin and a ‘finicky’ ignition switch that was replaced by a push-button starter.
