Believe or not, a recent study from SplashData is informing that Mustang is the 16th most popular password on the Internet, besting Superman in 21st place and Batman in 24th. Yup, you heard that right - superheroes ain’t got nothin’ on the blue-collared pony made in Flat Rock, Michigan.
As the study further informs, Mustang is the only automotive nameplate to appear in the top 25 most common Internet passwords used at the present moment. It’s not surprising that 123456 is still king of the worst passwords of 2014 list, but the rest of the top 10 is just as conventional as ever before.
Without further ado, 123456 is followed by: password, 12345, 12345678, qwerty, 123456789, 1234, baseball, dragon and football. As funny as this sounds, iloveyou is one of 9 passwords from 2013 to fall off the 2014 list. #11 to #20 most common passwords of 2014 include 1234567, monkey, letmein, abc123, 111111, Mustang, access, shadow, master and Michael.
But #21 to #25 are even funnier: Superman, 696969 (somebody appears to really like the sixty-niner), 123123, Batman and trustno1. Whoah, now that was a long list of uninspired passwords, although Mustang is unexpected.
