Liechtenstein is an European country so small you’ve never heard of it. It’s about half of Kansas City, it’s being led by a Prince and the official language for the almost 37,000 people living there is German. Still, this is the home country of NanoFlowcell, the company associated with the 900 hp gullwinged Quant EV powered by a flow cell battery. The model, now named the Quant F, got updated and has revealed before its Geneva Motor Show debut next month.
We were amazed when the Quant made its first appearance last year, being powered by saltwater and an electrolyte creating electricity in some sort of fuel cell, energy which is stored in supercapacitors that further send it to four electric motors. Total power was rated at a maximum of 920 hp (680 kW), 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) taking 2.8 seconds and an autonomy of around 600 km (373 miles). Amazing...
The new model comes with slightly redesigned shapes and an improved powertrain, now being able to generate a maximum of 1,075 hp and go as far as 800 km (500 miles) on a full tank of 500 liters (132 gallons). The only think that shrunk is the top speed, which went from 350 km/h (217 mph) to 300 km/h (186 mph).
It almost sounds too good to be true and it is in some way. Some experts are evaluating the car at over €1.3 million ($1.7 million). The company said they’re at the beginning, following to further enhance the technology and lower the costs. It would be totally worthless if only 1 percent of the people around the world will be able to afford one.
NanoFlowcell said nothing about a date for when the Quant F will enter production, but you will be able to admire it at the Geneva Motor Show starting in March.
