Throughout his career playing for the San Antonio Spurs the power forward/center has become a five-time NBA champion, two-time NBA MVP, three-time NBA Finals MVP and NBA Rookie of the Year. But when Tim Duncan is not busy scoring new awards and braking new boundaries in sports, he takes care of the poor through his active philanthropy.
The 38-year old basketball star is not only a great sportsmen, but also a person with a great heart. Off the court, Duncan is known for his quiet and unassuming ways, as well as his charity works. He holds an honor degree in psychology and created the Tim Duncan Foundation to raise general health awareness and fund education and youth sports in various parts of the U.S. The 14-time NBA All-Star is also a great car enthusiast and in fact owns a custom auto shop called Black Jack Speed Shop.

This is the point you’re probably asking yourself how all these connect to the car in the picture. Well, it does, just bare with us a bit longer.

There is a Tim Duncan special edition Marvel Punisher comic book

In case you’re not a big basketball fun, we’ll remind you that Duncan is also a big comics fan. Both his hobbies sort of combined a couple of months ago, when the sportsman appeared on the front cover of Marvel’s The Punisher. Reports are the front cover of the comic was drawn by Michael Choi, a San Antonio-native and self-proclaimed “bigger basketball nerd than comic book nerd”.

The cover shows the basketball player handing the keys of a villain car to The Punisher, whose real name is Frank Castle. The comic character is envisioned as a grizzled, old-school vigilante dispensing justice.

Good, now that we have gathered all the pieces of the puzzle together, let us explain the point. The car from the Punisher was actually recreated in real life so it could later be auctioned with the proceeds going to a local San Antonio charity.

A matte black Dodge Challenger

The vehicle is in fact a Dodge Challenger that was donated by San Antonio-based Gunn Automotive auto dealership and styled by Duncan’s auto shop, with really bad ass black matter finish and a glossy Punisher logo on the hood. It even comes with a mock weapons cache in the trunk.

About three days ago the car was still at the Black Jack Speed Shop main headquarters and raffle tickets were still available, so we’re assuming fans could still give a helping hand. Tickets were priced at 40$ each and only 2,000 are being sold in total. Apart from the car itself, which is autographed by Tim Duncan and Mike Choi, the winner will also receive a signed copy of the Tim Duncan special edition Marvel Punisher comic book.
