Before Mercedes fights back with a new version of the A45 AMG, let's take a moment to examine the new RS3 Sportback, which is currently the fastest hatchback in the world.
This €54,000 freak of nature is capable of launching from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, making it Porsche-fast. At its core is the most powerful 2.5-liter TFSI turbo engine ever put into production, sending 367 PS to a quattro all-wheel drive system through an upgraded 7-speed gearbox.

Most customers spend about 20% on top of the base price with options and we think the color is a great place to start.

Audi recently released several photos of the all-new RS3 and we noticed all the colors on these press cars are named after motorsport events. There's Catalunya Red, Sepang Blue and our favorite Nardo Grey.

Unless we're mistaken, Nador Grey wasn't available on the previous generation of the RS3. It should look good in real life, especially if you combine it with the black front wing option and blacked out chrome trim. However, the cost is €800 for the front wings, €105 for the door mirrors, €265for the black roof rails and probably another €500 for the shadowline trim.

If you like the red quilted stitching on those seats, it's another €745 option and the RS sports exhaust system costs another €850. And we're not done yet! Audi will also charge you €2,300 for the navigation system, €1,100 for the panoramic roof and they don't even throw in a reversing camera.

However, at the end of the day, for a true Audi fan only the best will do. There's not going to be a more powerful version of the RS3, and even if Mercedes ads 20 PS to the A45, the Sportback is still going to be faster.
