Audi has just shown the first images of a new version of its Prologue concept car today. It's going to be shown at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show in a few days and takes the form of a jacked up allroad wagon.
This is Prologue concept number 3, coming after the coupe and Avant models. If this is the preview though which Audi's new design boss wants us to see the next A8 or A9, than it means we're going to have a new allroad model on our hands in a few years.

Currently, the Allroad family only has two members, the A4 and A6. The larger A8 sedan is not even available as an estate, but going in this direction makes sense when you consider the popularity of the softroader brand.

Cosmetically, a few things have changed about the Prologue since we last saw it. For starters, the air intakes in the front bumper have been redesigned to include angular LED lights. The suspension is raised and a new body kit with black elements gives a chunkier impression.

Around the back, the exhaust pipes are hidden away like on the Passat and chrome inserts give the impression of a very wide lower valence.

The powertrain is another plugin hybrid drive, offering a massive output of 540 kW (734 hp), while consuming only 2.4 liters per 100 kilometers (98.0 US mpg), according to NEDC standards. quattro all-wheel drive is a natural part of any allroad model.
