New Citroen C4 Picasso Gets Chip-Tuned to 137 HP

The Citroen C4 Picasso is a brand new MPV from the French carmaker that practically invented the segment. It's boldly designed with a backwards approach to frontal design, has lots of space and the latest tech. However, what it hasn't got is enough power.

The engine range is quite short and consists of 1.6-liter diesels, the most powerful of which has 115 hp. By comparison, both the Ford C-Max and the Opel Zafira Tourer push nearer to 200 hp with their 2-liter mills. And let's not forget that both BMW and Mercedes now play in the same sandbox.

Leave it to a French chip tuning firm like Digiservices to upgrade the C4's lack-luster diesel. Through the usual array of electronic wizardly, the output has been increased to 137 hp and 317 Nm of torque, which is 21 hp and 42 Nm more than standard.

It's still not exactly a rocket ship, since the factory-spec C4 with this exact engine gets from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.8 seconds. But the French like to take things easy and travel at a leisurely pace. The C4 Picasso is like a jewelry box on wheels, with bling-bling oozing out of every pore. Practicality is very high, with the biggest boot in the class and individual seats that can be moved independently. And because the diesel engines are so small and don't have a lot of power, fuel economy is great as well.
