KTM has already sent new 390 Duke prototypes to India, rumors say. Still unverified, the rumors claim that the export papers refer to a certain "390 Duke MY17" bike sent from Austria to India.
Even though the 390 Duke is an all-Austrian creation, engineered and designed at Mattighofen, KTM is building this bike in Bajaj' plant in India, thus keeping manufacturing costs down. This also gives KTM an extra edge for the local and other Asian markets, with the lower prices being a most lucrative complement for the European tag of the bike.

The displacement remains unchanged

According to visordown, the mentioned papers revealed that the bike maintains the 374cc displacement for the liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. No other mentions have been made, but we can guess that KTM will update the aesthetics of the bike, though retaining the naked aggressive looks which have been a good selling point in all the markets until now.

Upgrades in the chassis and maybe transmission departments are also suspected to be revised, as KTM will most likely be looking for ways to make the 390 Duke feel punchier, since the bike is already at the A2-license power limit.

Apparently the bike is in an advanced stage of development and KTM is starting preparations for the upgrades of the production line where the 2017 model year 390 Duke will be manufactured. We can expect the bike to show up at the EICMA 2015 in November, as Milan seems to be the favorite ground for KTM show-off purposes.

Last November we spent a lot of time with BMW and KTM officials at EICMA and we got some inside info. Follows these links for exclusive BMW interviews and KTM insights.
