New Porsche 911 GT3 RS and 997.2 GT3 RS Race in Wet British Countryside

Before we even start the Rennsport discussion we've planned for today, allow us to apologize for mentioning the kind of weather that hosted the two Neunelfers' comparo - "British" usually contains "wet."

With that out of the way, we can move on to a little test, one that sets out to determine your mental driving age. It's all simple, really, as the only thing you need to do is choose between the 991 GT3 RS and its predecessor. No, not the 4.0 model, but the "standard" 997.2 911 GT3 RS.

Subjects who went for the current car without even blinking are usually the childish type, since they overlooked a lot of analogue driving aspects offered by the retired model.

Ah, who are we kidding? We're all childish here, since spending a small fortune on a car such as the ones we have here can only cater to the traveling needs of our inner child.

With the game now over, we can return to the Porsche side of the play

Returning to the cars, while the rear-wheel steering and the PDK double-clutch gearbox of the 991 model obviously make it faster, this isn't everything.

For one thing, the 997.2 GT3 RS comes with a third pedal and mixing that with the typical RS handling treats makes for an intoxicating driving melange.

The narrow roads that served as the playground for this battle, which comes from Neunelfer-dedicated magazine Total 911, only add to the thrills delivered by these pieces of German engineering.

The pair of flat-six bearers play a game we all love. Since the roads are too narrow for any hope of an overtaking moment, the two take turns when it comes to leading the fight.

And with the footage below also offering us overly-sexy roll cage angles, these have to be the best three minutes (the clip is actually a tad shorter) we've spent today.
