Nissan Design America is responsible for this new concept truck that pays tribute to Nissan’s heritage of off-road racing and adventuring. Those who loved the Baja “Hardbody” competition pickups and Paris-Dakar Rally treks will surely be fans of the Warrior.

According to Jose Munoz, executive vice president of Nissan Motor. Co., Ltd. and Chairman of Nissan North America, Inc., “Truck buyers have a seemingly insatiable appetite for more content and more unique offerings. Even though our all-new 2016 TITAN XD just started arriving at Nissan dealers nationwide last month, we are already exploring new territory where TITAN might go in the future.

The team imagined how the original design could evolve to extreme levels so, firstly, they raised the height nearly three inches and mounted 37-inch off-road tires on custom 18x9.5-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, just so the new truck stands out more than the original Titan.

Also, to cope with the newly sized features, the new concept’s width was also extended three inches on each side.

The enhanced grille and headlights, together with the flared front and rear fenders, give the car a more menacing look and muscular appearance. In the rear, the LED taillights take the form of a TITAN “T” logo, and as a finishing touch, a quad-tipped exhaust system is integrated into the rear bumper.

Although it’s bigger than the original truck, the concept cares about aerodynamics and incorporates several elements, such as carbon fiber rear cab spoiler and tailgate spoilers or roof-mounted LED off-road lights.

The car is finished in a custom matte-gunmetal paint called “Thunder” with “Magma” orange and black accents.

Inside, the cabin remains faithful to the TITAN Warrior Concept’s active performance theme as the seats are covered in a carbon-colored high-strength seat fabric where the “Magma” accents are also present. For the different surfaces, designers used carbon fiber, polished chrome finishes or leather with accented Magma orange stitching.

The steering wheel is custom-built, milled from one block of aluminum. Other interior features include one-of-a-kind hot-and-cold drink containers integrated into the center console, robust auxiliary toggle switches integrated into the center stack, and instrument panel-mounted extra gauges for the driver to easily monitor truck performance.

Built to be a bad-ass truck, the Nissan Titan Warrior is powered by a hardcore engine: the fully boxed, ladder frame Cummins 5.0-liter V8 Turbo Diesel linked to a standard heavy-duty 6-speed Aisin automatic transmission.

Quite recently, the Titan XD has been named “Truck of Texas” by the Texas Auto Writers Association and won three other awards, including Luxury Pickup Truck of Texas, Off-Road Pickup Truck of Texas and Best Powertrain.
