Nissan Note NISMO and NISMO S Are Not Your Typical MPVs

When the second generation of the Japanese multi purpose vehicle was introduced back in 2012, nobody in their right mind would've imagined Nissan would NISMO the quirky Note. But the automaker's skunkworks division did just that and it's a keeper!

Starting with the Nissan Note NISMO, this is the semi-skimmed variant of the breed, benefitting from sporty visual sauce, a lot of Alcantara inside, a harder suspension setup and the steering wheel from his pluckier brother, the Nissan Note NISMO S.

Already on sale in Japan, the Nissan Note NISMO is offered only with the supercharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder mill coupled to an Xtronic CVT gearbox, so the get-up-and-go isn't something to boast about. But the Note NISMO S is propelled by a more potent engine.

Coming in the form of a 1.6-liter powerplant with 140 horsepower on tap at 6400 rpm, the Note NISMO S is 31 ponies up on the basic 1.6-liter's 109 hp. Coupled to a snickety five-speed stick shift, the S also adds brake discs on all four wheels, a high-flow intake manifold and a raspier exhaust than the Note NISMO's.

At the present moment, Nissan tells that sales will be limited to its home market, where both the Note NISMO and NISMO S are available in a choice of four exterior finishes: white, gray, silver and black.
