Honda is recalling around 30,000 motorcycles and maxi scooters that may confront with a serious problem in the electrical department. The start button of said vehicles may not be watertight, as it was intended in the first place, and moisture could infiltrate.
The defective start buttons may see infiltration from rain or could even malfunction if enough moisture from the surrounding atmosphere gets inside.
Water/moisture infiltration could lead to the malfunction of the start button, making starting impossible and rendering the vehicle useless. Of course, there's always the possibility to push the bike, but we all know this is not exactly how we like to use our two-wheelers. Even more, it looks like water entering the start button assembly could also lead to a short circuit, and this is more dangerous than not being able to start the machine.
Honda advises customers to get in touch with the nearest dealer and schedule an investigation. If the start button assembly proves to be defective, the dealers will install a new, compliant part free of charge.
Some of the models affected by the recall have also sold in other markets, such as Europe and North America. They include the CBR125R, CBR250R, CBr600RR, the Integra scooters and more. So this means that the customers in those regions might very well expect a letter from Honda.
