Audi TT RS Plus Tuned All the Way into Supercar Territory with 510 HP

The Audi TT RS has always been regarded as some sort of mini-R8, offering plenty of performance for the small package it came in.

Now, with the help of the ever-willing tuning industry, the small Audi is able to pack a significant punch, ready to kick in the teeth a lot of cars that were previously looking down upon it.

But come to think of it, there weren't that many who could have done that to begin with. The Audi TT RS Plus packs a five-cylinder 2.5-liter TFSI engine developing 360 hp and 465 Nm (343 lb-ft), enough for a 4.1 seconds 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint. Get this: the Porsche Cayman GT4 needs 0.1 seconds more to perform the same feat.

So we've settled the Audi TT RS Plus is fast. But it wasn't fast enough for the guys at HPerformance who employed the help of software specialists MTR Performance for improving the car's peak output. The modified Audi TT RS Plus, going by the name ClubSport TTRS, has received a HPerformance-Performance Tuning Stage 5. This consists of a new HPXT530 turbocharger, a custom charge air cooler, high-pressure pump and a sports exhaust system.

The result is 150 extra hp and 225 extra Nm (167 lb-ft) for a grand total of 510 hp and 690 Nm (510 lb-ft) in a two-seater coupe with all-wheel drive.

Unfortunately, there's no data on the car's performances, but you can expect them to be significantly better than those of the standard car.

The makeover also includes some changes to the suspension system in the form of three-way KW Clubsport coilovers, as well as new MOVIT brakes. There are also some minor stylistic interventions, even though that large wing at the rear has some obvious aerodynamic implications as well. The whole package costs 50,000 euros ($56.440 at today's rates), but since the current Audi TT RS can't be bought anymore, there's a very limited audience for this transformation kit.

Yet, if all this talk of supercar performance in a small coupe's body has gotten you all flared up, there's no need to despair as the very car pictured here is up for sale. The asking price is 90,000 euros ($101,600) and we can't really tell if it's a lot or not. This isn't exactly a sleeper, but even so nobody expects it to perform the way it will, so it might be worth the investment.
