The all-new Touran has just been revealed on the world wide web, ahead of the its likely appearance in Geneva. Unlike the Sharan we showed you a week ago, it's definitely a much sexier car and that's because the design is based around a brand new platform.
The same MQB that was used by the Golf and Passat has given us a fresh MPV that's 62 kilograms lighter, not to mention 19% more efficient thanks to the latest generation of petrol and diesel engines.

Before anything else, let's just say that we're chuffed with the look of the car. Sure, the side winds are big and square, but that's necessary for visibility. The rest is even more spectacular than the Golf 7, especially the front bumper of the R-Lines models. Full-LED taillights have been installed, though the units at the front are the most impressive, thanks to the array of LED and xenon technologies they use.

The engines the Germans will offer include three petrol and three diesels. The TSI units start with a 1.2 making 110 PS, followed by the 150 PS 1.4 and the 180 PS 1.8-liter turbo. But the most powerful engine available is a diesel, the 190 PS 2.0 TDI that's also available on the Passat. There's also a 150 PS model, but the most economical is the 1.6 TDI which returns an average of 4.1 l/100 km with the 7-speed DSG.

The practicality is said to have massively increased thanks to a 113mm longer wheelbase. Look for the brand new Touran to be shown together with the 2015 Sharan and the Passat Alltrack at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
