Alpha-N Performance Proposes a 790 HP Ferrari 488 and a 680 HP California T

It seems like moving to turbocharged engines in Maranello was good not only for the brand but for the tuners as well. The guys from Alpha-N Performance just revealed a couple of upgrades for the prancing horse brand, and they are impressive, to say the least.

After claiming that it too can offer a water injection kit for the M4 as the Motorsport division does for the GTS model, the tuner apparently set its sights on the most exclusive supercar maker out there, Ferrari. Since the company has only two turbocharged models available at the moment, Alpha-N Performance focused on them.

The reason for that is pretty straightforward, increasing the boost is the easiest way to get more power out of a turbocharged engine, and that’s what the tuner did. The kit for the 488 GTB and the California T is called “the EVOX module” and is basically a piggyback tune.

Thanks to the new parameters for the engine, this tune does amazing things for the outputs of the V8s under the two Ferrari models' respective hoods, with power going through the roof.

The 488’s 3.9-liter V8 makes 670 PS in standard guise, along with 760 Nm (560 lb-ft) of torque. We told you the stock figures just to have a grasp on how much more they are making after Alpha-N Performance is done with them. Ready? The model now has 790 PS and 860 Nm (634 lb-ft) of torque!

Going over to the California T, you’ll be glad to know that it is now capable of going from the 560 PS and 755 Nm (557 lb-ft) of torque on the standard 3.8-liter V8 to 680 PS and 873 Nm (644 lb-ft) of torque. Call the California T what you want, but you definitely can’t call it underpowered or slow now!

Sounds ridiculous, right? Well, it’s about to get even worse when you hear about the price tags. Alpha-N Performance claims that it can deliver all these goodies in a box for a measly €2,999. Considering how much optional features cost on any given Ferrari, this would be as much as you’d spend on a different pair of seats.
