Before getting too excited over the Aston Martin DB9 GT, allow us to clear the air by saying this is not the same car we spied during pre-production testing a couple of times before.
From where we're standing, it looks Aston Martin improvised a little bit and came up with a transition model between their current DB9 range and the upcoming, thought-to-be DB11. However, with the DB9 GT we area looking at the most powerful DB9 ever created by Aston Martin.
This status comes via a power bump applied to the 6.0-liter V12 engine roaring under the DB9's hood. The result is a total stab of 547 horsepower at 6,750 rpm, and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque at 5,500 rpm.
The engine is paired with Aston Martin's Touchtronic II six-speed transmission with electronic shift-by-wire control system. This combo allows the DB9 GT to go from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds, and on to a top speed of 295 km/h (183 mph).
Other than that, the DB9 GT features an independent double wishbone suspension system and the three-stage Adaptive Damping System (ADS), allowing drivers to select between Normal, Sport and Track modes.
Step inside and you'll notice some new stuff put here as well, including the AMi II touch-sensitive Aston Martin infotainment system. On the outside, the Aston Martin DB9 GT differs from the standard DB9 thanks to a black splitter and diffuser, revised headlights and taillights, plus a set of new ten-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels.
The cabin keeps its 2+2 config at least in theory, but the seats wear subtle ‘GT’ badges. A steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara coupled with an iridium trim pack apply the finishing touches on the DB9 GT's interior.
In case the car winks at you, we've got good news. The DB9 GT is now available to order in markets around the world, priced from £140,000 in the UK, €187,000 RRP in Germany and $199,950 in the US.
