Bugatti Veyron Races 9ff Porsche on Empty Airfield

We may have already discussed about the Veyron successor, but the episodes where the current incarnation of the hypercar races some other piece of exotic material never seem to get old. The latest example of this comes from a recent European supercar and hypercar event, where a Veyron raced a 9ff Porsche.

The action took place at the VMax 200 event earlier this month, where the two-mile runway of the Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome served as a playground for the UK’s supercars and hypercars. The scene was surrounded with little airplanes here and there, bringing an interesting background for drivers and attenders.

The dogfight

In the red corner, we have a standard Bugatti Veyron, the one that delivers 1,001 horses. Nonetheless, the hypercar is gifted with a Quicksilver exhaust, as the owner wanted the quad-turbocharged W16 engine to be a tad more on the vocal side.

In the blue corner sits a 9ff-tickled Porsche, namely a 997.2 Turbo S. The rear-engined coupe, fitted with a PDK double-clutch transmission, was taken to 675 hp, but the key to this beast is balance, not sheer power.

By the way, the German tuner is perhaps best known for its 256 mph (412 km/h) 911, so, even though the Porsche present here was not its top dog, 9ff is the kind of company that can pit a 911 against a Veyron.

The course

In case you were wondering why the 9ff entered the race given the output gap, you should know there’s a twist here - the course isn’t just about racing in a straight line. Oh yes, the 9hh had the chance to exhibit its acrobatic handling skills.

Now, we won’t spoil the fun by telling you what goes on in the race, but we will mention the Veyron driver short-shifts into second, while the Porsche driver is more than determined to win.
