As an official Land Rover ambassador we’re going to see world renown Bear Grylls’ face quite frequent. If it’s not on some nature TV channel, then he’ll definitely be part of the auto maker’s new explorations. This time, the British adventurer has taken the winner of the Land Rover Discovery Adventure Challenge, Alex Woodford, on a two-day expedition in the Gila National Forest, New Mexico.
Man we wish we’d be somewhere in the wild taking a 4x4 machine for some hardcore off-road adventure. Well, we’re not and probably neither are you since you’re here reading this piece. After all, that’s how it’s supposed to be. We can’t all just spend our time chasing wild animals and taking our bodies to the limit. Some of us actually have to spend hours at the office to write about it.

Good. Now that we got that over with, let’s get back to Bear Grylls and his aspiring-adventurer. The two-day trip was a reward Alex got for her triumphant effort in the six-part Discovery Adventure Challenge, which took place in the mountains of Megeve, France earlier this year.

The event sought to find the next generation of explorers by providing the platform for the world’s leading and most experienced explorers to share their vast knowledge and inspire future generations,” Land Rover explains. According to the auto maker, Alex made it to the finish line and became the company’s winner for her display of strength, technique and courage throughout each challenge, as well as showing a true sense of adventure.

The expedition was truly a test of determination, skills and resilience, but aren’t all of Bear Grylls' experiences like that? All the participants had to go through an array of physically and mentally demanding activities. In addition to a difficult trek across five miles of challenging terrain, Alex was faced with rappelling down a 250ft sheer drop, a Tyrolean Traverse, river crossings and hemp rope climbs among others.

You have to follow your dreams. If you love adventure then just keep going along the path. Just do what you love and you can make it into a career”, Alex said after going through the experience.

Well, since we can’t actually go there ourselves (at least not right now) we listed the video showing Bear Grylls taking Alex into the Gila National Forest below, in case you're wondering how the place looks like.
