You can’t really say Belgium had a huge auto history. There were a handful of automakers back in the day making just a few models, most of which were re-bodied vehicles from other manufacturers, so there was noting serious about it. The story is the same now but with a bigger interest for electric vehicles. The E-Car 333 for example will enter market next year.
The E-Car 333 electric three wheeler got unveiled during this year’s Brussels Auto Show in pre-production guise. It’s a stylish microcar with three seats and it has 100 percent Belgian heritage.

According to Technologic Vehicles report, the EV is also made using bio or recycled materials. For example, the chassis is made out of reused steel while the body comes from laminated flax.

Great thing is the E-Car 333 will come in six different variations, with convertible and utility versions included. Its designer, Xavier Van der Stappen, claims it will go as fast as 130 km/h (80.7 mph) and go as far as 300 km (186 miles) on a charge.

Refilling the batteries is also said to take about 3 hours on a normal household (220V) outlet, which will make it perfect for commuting and recharging at the office.

The E-Car 333 should go on sale in 2016, starting at €18,000 ($20,463 at current exchange rates). However, depending on body styles, optionals and motor, it price could go as far as €42,000 ($47,750).

A bit too much for a three wheeler that can’t offer the same practicality as a Nissan Leaf for example.
