DHL might be already testing transporting pharmaceutical drugs via drones, Amazon and Google are fighting the battle too, but we’re still a couple of years if not more from seeing it actually happen. Meanwhile, transporting things from point A to point B is still done through regular methods. Bicycle messenger is one of them and it’s pretty popular among busy cities around the planet.
Hey, we’re not saying passing the red light is cool and we’re definitely not encouraging bikers in doing it. Traffic regulations are there for everybody to respect, since it’s obviously a matter of safety. But, we all know that bikers find their ways and usually manage to avoid traffic jams. They now all the city’s shortcuts, sometimes go on the sidewalk as well and even use bus lanes to get there first.

On the other hand, a car is a car, it will always be faster and more comfortable for that matter. Still, the question of who will win the race between a bicycle and a cab will spark controversy every time. So here’s where Red Bull came in, with their little challenge.

Released the other day, the video shows Chicago native Deportago-Cabrera who has been a bike messenger for the last seven years, racing the best cab driver he can find in a head-to-head race across the city. Sure, the competition took place in the afternoon, which means it managed to avoid rush hour traffic, but we’re still looking at a 5.6 miles (9 kilometers) route for the bicycle and a 7.2 miles (11.6 kilometers) route for the taxi.

Let’s see if you can guess who wins.
