What if I told you that that there exists a blonde-haired woman driving a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06? It’s a possibility, alright. But what if that representative of the opposite sex runs 10.8 seconds on the quarter mile with the Kentucky-born supercar?
The female driver’s first 1/4-mile stint was a 10.92 at 126.8 mph (204.06 km/h). On her second run, the speed trap shows 10.87 at 125.93 mph (202.66 km/h). As for the best run of the day, the Corvette-driving blonde managed to pull a 10.86-second quarter mile at 127.62 mph (205.38 km/h). Pretty impressive, huh?
Truth be told, some numerals aren’t as impressive as the following fact: her weapon of choice is a standard 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Bone stock, without the Z07 Performance Package and optional cup rubber. If anything, the 8-speed automatic bruiser is a capable machine even in its most basic configuration.
Hoping I won’t upset any Corvette owners out there, the general public has this stereotypical perception about the Corvette as being an old man’s car or the ride of choice of lotto winners. Happily however, the seventh-generation Corvette debunked much of that stereotype better than its honorable predecessors.
A Laguna Blue Z06 with a 30ish-year-old blonde driver and the vanity plate “SHE-WNZ” makes a strong point, a much better point than US Vice President Joe Biden’s “Corvettes are better than Porsches.”
After all, seeing the veep perform multiple 10s on the asphalt strip of Gateway Motorsports Park is wishful thinking. From this editor’s point of view, I can’t help but feel impressed by how she launches off the line smooth, without wheel hopping or gratuitous spinning. It’s not an easy task for both men and women.
