Even though it's always nasty to see a rider crashing at the TT, one of the recent incidents proved to be a perfect way to show what the men racing on Snaefell are made of. William Dunlop, nephew to the King of the Mountain Joey Dunlop, suffered a crash in one of the practice laps of the Superstock class.
His older brother Michael, an 11-time TT winner, stopped to check him out, despite knowing that this would have a serious impact on his lap times. Seeing him injured and obviously not able to even walk, let alone ride, Michael proved once more that blood IS thicker than water and got off his bike to help the marshals carry his brother.
Three marshals, aided by Michael Dunlop and supervised by a medic, carried the Tyco BMW rider from the crash site at Laurel Bank to a nearby emergency helicopter.
William's team initially announced that he was bruised but likely to be able to get back in the saddle. The doctors, however, found a fractured rib and said that he will not be able to compete in any of the remaining races in the 2015 TT.
John Mc Guinness and Bruce Anstey for Mugen, XLee Johnston and Guy Martin for Victory, Robert Wilson for Sarolea, Michael Sweeny for U Nottingham and James Cowton for Brunel. Kingston University team were unable to post a qualifying time.
So far, the best lap speeds belong to Leen Johnston and Guy Martin, around 110 and 108 mph (178 and 174 km/h), respectively.

Battered, bruised and with a broken rib, William will have to sit out of the TT
Michael was himself injured in a crash in the final lap of the Superbike race, after clashing with a slower rider at the Nook. Seven bikes in the electric race
This left Victory without a rider in the SES TT Zero Challenge, but William Dunlop was replaced by his teammate, Guy Martin.
