BMW to Unveil a Z4 GTLM Model with 3.0CSL-inspired Livery at Amelia Island

This year’s Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance will be the place where BMW celebrates 40 years since its debut in the US. Not only that, but since the Motorsport division also recorded its first win on the North American continent in 1975, we have double reasons to rejoyce.

Therefore, the company decided to make things interesting and pay tribute to the legendary 3.0CSL model that won the 12 Hours of Sebring 40 years ago. In this regard, the Germans will be unveiling a special Z4 GTLM car at the venue, wearing a livery inspired by the colors worn by the old-school racer.

Since this is a celebration of Motorsport, another iconic model from BMW’s history will be showcased with this occasion, the 328 driven by none other than Sir Stirling Moss in the Mille Miglia back in 1947 when he won his first professional race.

This was actually one of the first cars that introduced the legendary Brit into the world of motorsports and the 328 Touring Mille Miglia Coupe that pioneered lightweight construction techniques and advanced aerodynamics is still an icon.

Therefore, it is a must that you present yourself at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance this weekend. The show will begin with the “Cars & Coffee at the Concours” event on Saturday, March 14 where the special Z4 GTLM will be unveiled.

To show it to the audience, BMW flew over none other than Bill Auberlen and the guys that sat behind the wheel of the 3.0CSL back in 1975, Brian Redman, Sam Posey and Hans Stuck so you’ll be in the presence of motorsport royalty. Another surprise is the presence of the BMW Motorsport Director of those days, Mr. Jochen Neerpasch, the man that revolutionized the way drivers trained before racers.

To top everything off, the BMW Z3 Roadster used to shoot the James Bond film Goldeneye back in 1995 will also be on display.
