Prior to the EICMA 2014 auto show’s doors opening nobody knew exactly what BMW was going to bring into focus. As it turns out, the 2015 F800R model was amongst the bikes scheduled for a world debut alongside its brothers.
For the 2015 model year BMW revised the look of its bike, dropping the usual lopsided headlight arrangement we’ve been getting used to and basically going against the company’s trademarks features.
There’s been plenty of work behind the new model and you can see it clearly as the F800R basically was reinvented. Apart from the aforementioned headlight design, the side panels and radiator covers have also been altered while the rear end is basically the same.
The bike now has 90 HP instead of 87 as well as shorter first and second gears that would help out around the city, making it feel quicker. Coupled together, these essential changes should transform the way the two-wheeler is ridden and handled.
On the same tech side, the suspension was updated as well, featuring a pari of upside down forks. With the lowered seat (that was dropped by 10 mm to 790 mm) and the new bars and footpegs, ergonomics should also be improved.
Standard features are aplenty and include ABS, as we were expecting. The safety package includes ASC, RDC and ESA. You also get LED turn indicators, intelligent luggage solutions, on-board computer and heated grips.
Stability control features are optional though as well as the electronic suspension adjustment you’ll want along with a tyre pressure sensor system. Well, at least you can get them, even though you have to pay extra.
