After we were done taking pictures of all the world debuts and the hottest models tuners had to bring out at the Essen Motor Show this year, we headed to the Drift Arena. That’s where a couple of European and World Champions in drifting were doing their thing, to the crowd’s cheers.
Amongst the competitors we spotted two similarly painted cars but of two completely different origins. One was right at home here, being built just a couple of kilometers away from Essen but the other was hailing from across half the globe.
As you might’ve guessed already, the former is a BMW E30 3 Series while the other is a Nissan Silvia S13 that was transformed into a pickup and also received a huge wing at the back.
The duo is the one that caught our eye first but there were other contestants out there, drifting the wheels off their cars. The line-up included a Toyota GT86 that went up against a BMW 125i hatchback, and a Nissan Silvia S14.
All of them put on a good show but the symmetry the BMW and the Nissan showed were rather impressive compared to the others. At the same time, this is also where the final of the Gymkhana Drift Cup 2014 will be held this weekend.
