That famous drag strip in Sweden we’ve seen a lot of lately is the star of the video posted below, once again. This time, we’re watching two cars that are actual rivals both on and off the track: a BMW M5 and a Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.
The two go back a long time as rivals, the 5 Series and E-Class splitting their share of the mid-size sedan market for as long as we’ve known them. Their hardcore versions are no different, the E63 AMG being a bit newer to the game but more than capable to take on the M5’s supremacy.

So, what will happen now that they’ve taken on each other on the drag strip? Well, as always, there’s a twist!

The M5 is nearly stock, the E63 has more torque

According to the uploader, the M5 is stock... almost. The car had its suspension changed but that won’t help out too much in a drag race. The engine was kept intact so the 4.4-liter twinturbo V8 mill is making 560 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque.

However, the exhaust was changed with one from tuning company Schmiedmann but we’re not sure that it brings any meaningful changes to the torque/hp output.

The Mercedes-Benz on the other hand claims to be perfectly stock but fitted with an optional Performance Package that takes the power output from the 5.5-liter twinturbo V8 up to 550 HP and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. That’s plenty more than the BMW and could prove to be decisive in an all out drag race, especially at higher speeds.

However, the M5 manages to keep up and the two are basically inseparable throughout the race. We’d call it a perfect tie if anything. Check it out!
