The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is a car to fear on and off the drag strip even in its stock guise. Get some custom parts thrown in the engine bay and you get a full-on monster that will be really hard to hold back.

It’s mostly due to the 6.2-liter V8 LS9 engine under the bonnet that makes 638 HP thanks to a supercharger. When it was launched, this was the fastest Corvette ever put together thanks to various improvements over the standard model.

Now imagine that the owner of the car below wanted even more. Leaving aside his apparent death wish, we must thank him for his resilience and for the fact that he decided to invest in his Chevy. Therefore, his ZR1 now has 720 HP, more than enough for a car that weighs less than the standard ‘Vette thanks to carbon fiber usage on the roof, hood, fenders, front splitter and rocker moldings as well as other changes.

As you can imagine the first car that goes up against it doesn’t really stand a chance. It’s not that the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is not an impressive piece of engineering but with its standard 570 HP and 650 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque, it’s hard to stand before the mighty American.

On the other hand, there’s another Merc lurking around the track, looking to get back at the ‘Yankee’ for trampling over the SLS and that’s a tuned C63 AMG that we’ve seen before. Thanks to a Morendi-Weistec tune, the sedan now has 700 HP coming out of its 6.2-liter V8. Will that be enough to redeem the AMG name? Let’s see.
