Sure, bicycles have indicators just like cars do. You know what they don’t have though? The sheets of metal and the chassis that help keep the people in the vehicle stay safe. And even if they do have some lights that they use when taking a turn, quite often motorists claim they don’t see bikers. This innovative idea may come in handy.
Envisioned as a concept for now, Cyclee is the brainchild of Azerbaijani product designer Elnur Babayev, who has been thinking of a device that could help bikers stay safe while in traffic. The small, bike-mounted device would project symbols, signs, and even words onto the cyclist’s back as he rides along.

The projected images naturally relate to the biker’s actions and movement, and can be modified via a coordinating app. On his Behance account, Elnur explains how the device works.

“With the help of a special chipset that is inserted into the instrument, the entire program can be edited wirelessly. Projected signs can be modified via mobile application and then transferred to the device. Cyclee can be mounted on various bicycle models, as the mounting part changes depending on the bike’s model.”

As far as we can tell, it would seem that each customer can design his own signs and then upload them into the device’s memory. About that, we trust there should be a set of templates that apply to regular driving rules. Then, we feel the clothes the signs are projected on matter quite a lot, considering that some colors or materials might fade the image instead of making for good background.

As we said, the device is a concept for now, but judging by the fact the industrial designer also left an contact address for those who want to order one, we’re guess it could soon hit the market.
