Cadillac to Introduce 9 All-New Models in China Over the Next 5 Years

According to November sales figures in the United States, Cadillac moved a lot less vehicles than any other brand in the General Motors portfolio. You might say that’s normal because Caddies are a little more expensive than Buick vehicles, but that’s not really the case this time around.

Compared to November 2013, this year’s eleventh month saw Cadillac sales drop by 18.7 percent in volume. More specifically, 13,148 automobiles sold versus the 16,172 the American automaker moved last year.

In order to get out of this pinch and make ends meet, Cadillac chief executive office Johan de Nysschen disclosed that the brand he’s heading will introduce a whopping 9 all-new models by 2020 in China, the most dynamic new passenger vehicle market of the past five years or so.

“Cadillac is in a strong position to address the rapidly rising demand for luxury vehicles in China, a country in which we have a strong foundation given GM’s long-standing strength here,” said Johan de Nysschen. “By offering a broad lineup of products built in China for local consumers, we are intent on being at the forefront of the next stage of the luxury segment’s development.”

About those 9 new models, we can tell you that Cadillac trademarked recently everything from XT2 to XT8 and CT2 to CT8, with XT nameplates reserved for the SUV and crossover lineup, while the CT family of monikers will be applied to sedan, coupe, as well as convertible cars.

I’m sure you know about the upcoming flagship dubbed CT6, but is there any other future Cadillac model to be looking forward to? Well, we can point out three new models.

The first of them will be an even more lavish sedan that will be slotted above the Cadillac CT6. Then there’s the next-gen SRX crossover, which will be reportedly called the XT5. Last but not least, we expect Caddy to chop the roof of the ATS coupe. Sorry folks, but a second-gen XLR won’t be happening anytime soon.
