Casey Stoner Sorry for Not Riding at COTA, His Tweets Reveal

Part wishful thinking and part a possible future, having Casey Stoner substituting for Dani Pedrosa was one of the first things that came to the minds of many MotoGP fans. Suffering from arm pump for a whole year, Dani Pedrosa finally decided to have one more surgery and will not be able to ride for four to six weeks if his recovery process goes as planned.

After Pedrosa's decision to undergo surgery, HRC announced that he will be substituted for by Honda's test rider, Hiroshi Aoyama. While the choice was among the one with the highest probability, one of Casey Stoner's latest tweets adds a ton of confusion to the whole deal.

Did Stoner want to ride at COTA and was refused by HRC?

If anything, when it comes to the "Stoner back to MotoGP" matter, the dominant thing is his own refusal to get along with paddock politics and exposure. It's been more than once when media said that the only thing between Casey Stoner and MotoGP was himself.

However, his latest twitter message is quite confusing."Sorry to everyone but I am not racing at COTA next weekend, it would have been an honour to ride for Dani Pedrosa," he wrote. Even more, he added the NotMeantToBe hashtag at the end of the tweet.

Honestly, the only thing which comes to mind is that Stoner in fact wanted to ride Dani Pedrosa's bike at the Circuit of the Americas next Sunday, but Honda refused. It's rather hard to believe that he did not speak to HRC about this. After all, it's almost childish not to speak about a matter and then complaining about others not knowing about it...

Now, we can hope that more light shines on the matter next week, and we learn about what really happened. In case Stoner considered swinging a leg over Pedrosa's RC213V, this is a major development in the racing scene. We know Stoner will take part in the Suzuka 8 Hour endurance race, but now, if he is also willing to give MotoGP a try... things are SO much different.

With COTA already out of the question, we're still thinking about Termas de Rio Hondo in Argentina because Dani Pedrosa will most likely not be able to ride then.
