Chevrolet Equinox to Receive New Generation in 2017, Facelift Slated for Next Year

The second generation Chevrolet Equinox is a lil’ gray-haired considering it started production in 2009, but sales of the nameplate have improved year over year. Despite its success, the model has been slightly updated only recently to keep it competitive.

As we reported at the end of October, the 2015 isn’t a true facelift, but a minor update regarding the tech offered as standard. Chevrolet hiked the Equinox LS specification’s sticker price by $80, but you’re offered with OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi as standard. It doesn’t sound like much and Chevy knows that too.

In order to pose a real threat to newbies or facelifted models such as the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5, the Equinox needs a lot of botox and some new standard and available features. This is why the golden bowtie manufacturer suggested to Edmunds that a mild refresh will launch next year.

The 2016 Chevrolet Equinox will be shown to the public “within a couple of months. It is an important product for us.” said Steve Majoros to the automotive publication. Chevrolet’s car and crossover marketing manager may imply that the 2015 Detroit Auto Show in January may be the place to launch the model.

In terms of modifications in store, the aforementioned publication learned from other insider sources that a wider, deeper grille with horizontal chrome detailing and a series of interior updates are going to happen. As for the all-new 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, it seems like the third generation will arrive in 2017.
