It's been a month or so since our spy photographers caught the 2015 Citroen DS on film, wearing lots of camouflage up front. However, the Sochaux-made compact executive model resurfaced, this time with not a single camo blanket up front. So what's new and what's synonymous to the pre-facelift model?
Well, the carparazzi team from auto.sohu.com only managed to snap a frontal pic of the 2015 Citroen DS5, so we're not sure about changes operated at the rear, inside and under the bonnet. Nevertheless, we're certain the Citroen badging has been dropped altogether, making the updated DS5 the first model of the soon-to-be-launched DS stand-alone brand.
Try not to ROFL your socks off, but PSA chief executive officer Carlos Tavares told the automotive media only recently that the DS premium brand "can be an Audi rival by 2020," but in comparison to the Germans, the DS range is going to "convey French sophistication, trendiness and the French way of life."
Whatever that means… Nevertheless, the highlight visual change up front comes in the form of a lot of chrome garnishing the redesigned front grille and lower lip spoiler, while the headlight cluster shape is virtually the same we know from the pre-facelift model. The only other notable aesthetic change comes in the form of Audi-inspired side blades underneath the fog lights.
As for powertrain updates, don't hold your breath for a revolution, but expect an evolution of what Citroen currently offers on the DS5. That means every mill, from the THP 200 petrol right to the range-topping BlueHDi 180 diesel-electric micro-hybrid variant will be slightly reworked to offer a few more miles per gallon and to comply to the newest emissions standards. Last but not least, voices in the industry hint that the faceliftedCitroen DS5 is going to make its public debut at Geneva next March.
