The 1960 sportscar technology employed on the Chevrolet Corvette isn’t exactly the kind that makes a car forgiving. You don’t have to own one in order to know this. Heck, you don’t even have to be into cars to figure it out. Alas, it seems this was a bit of a mystery for the driver of a classic ‘Vette who sent his car into a wall while trying to show off over the weekend.
It all happened on Sunday on a road close to the Del Mar Fairgrounds, California on Sunday, with the man apparently aiming to pull a few tire-burning stunts. In fact, the tarmac in the area was already covered in skid marks, since the accident happened during the 2015 Good Guys Auto Show - many other cars had melted their rear tires before the Corvette crashed.

The video below, which comes from NBC 7, shows the C2 Corvette oversteering from one side to another and then plowing into a wall. A pole falls over the classic Chevy soon after the impact.

The driver does try to correct the car at first, but fails to keep up with the car’s sideways undulations. The poor quality of the footage doesn’t give us an exact view, but it seems like a child was riding shotgun at the moment of the impact.

Regardless, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputies said the firefighters arrived at the scene of the crash, but there was no need to transport anybody to the hospital. Guess fractured egos are difficult to treat.
