Up until today, we didn't know Dallas Cowboy's Greg Hardy was almost up to date with the automotive industry future news. The man must know about Bentley's upcoming SUV, the Bentayga and appears to have mistaken his Continental GT for one.
We're not sure if this is true or not, but it would make for a good way to explain the careless manner in which Hardy treated his GT on Friday.
Dallas recently faced a flash flood, with a group of cars having to deal with the problem at the I-35 and Continental Avenue junction - yep, this is one ironic location.
Hardy was among the drivers that were affected by this. Witnesses reportedly said the man attempted to drive his Bentley straight through the flood and was willing to do so at quite a speed.
As the adjacent photos, which come from WFAA, show, the Continental GT was defeated by the high waters. The Dallas Cowboy abandoned the car, returning later to collect some personal items and have the vehicle taken away.
It appears the Bentley stalled in the flood, which means there is a certain risk of engine hydrolocking. Hopefully, this won't be the case, but if that happened, a W12 engine rebuild is what the poor Bentley will have to go through.
If the water reaches a vehicle's air intake and subsequently enters the combustion chamber, the consequences range from a simple contamination to a cracked engine block. As you know, liquids are extremely difficult to compress, and when you have water inside one or more cylinders, the metal will give in under the pressure.
Returning to Hardy, the man doesn't need an explanation for such behavior. He is known for his controversial acts, with domestic violence charges pressed against him being an example as good as any.
