It's hard to come up with a fight that would pit the Dodge Challenger Hellcat against the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and see the slab of GM as the winner.
Perhaps a rev battle could deliver such a result, which is why we've brought along the video below.

Sure, both these machines pack blowers, belong to the muscle car race and, in this case, come finished in red. But that's a bit like saying Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed both have two hands that end in boxing gloves.

The two symbols of America came together at a Cars and Coffee event that took place in Colorado and, as you can imagine, shyness was not included in their vocabulary.

There are a few things we need to discuss, most of which have to do with this particular ZL1

While the Camaro ZL1 is now retired, we can't exactly call it a pensioner, so we deem this fight legitimate. However, the Chevy has an ace up its sleeve and it all has to do with the aftermarket world.

No, we're not talking about a custom exhaust, as that would be against the rules. Nevertheless, when it comes to the soundtrack, an engine gifted with an aftermarket exhaust gets quite an advantage.

Oh, and there's one more thing we need to mention. The SRT machine's rev limiter means the full potential of the forced-fed 6.2-liter unit can't be unleashed. On the other hand, the camera crew decided to make up for this by also recording the Hellcat's supercharger whine.

In the end, the 2012 Camaro ZL1 we have here wasn't afraid to duke it out loud with the Challenger Hellcat and you can enjoy their match behind the "play" button below.  Since a pair of blown 6.2-liter V8s awaits, you should be prepared for a delicious aural treat.
