If there’s one thing American Muscle cars are known for, it’s drag racing. That’s what gives them flavor, and that’s what makes them so desirable. You’d think that this reputation would also make them basically unbeatable in such races, but it’s not always like that.
Living proof is the video below, in which a tuned BMW F10 M5 takes on a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. If that’s not a proper muscle car, I don’t know what is. To back up our claim, we’ll run the numbers real quick.

Under the bonnet of the Mustang lies a 5.8-liter V8 making 671 HP and 856 Nm (631 lb-ft) of torque thanks to the usual forced induction brought along by a massive supercharger. That amount of power and torque allows the 1.7-ton car to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.6 seconds despite its manual 6-speed gearbox.

On the other hand, we have a more conservative car. Hailing all the way from Germany, it’s a BMW F10 M5. In standard guise, the Bimmer would stand no chance as its 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 makes just 560 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque. On top of that, it’s also heavier. It would only be able to keep up in 7-DCT gearbox guise if the driver of the Mustang would miss a gear.

However, this is no standard model we’re looking at here but a Burger Motorsport tuned one. That means that the output went up considerably, not only due to the piggyback tune but also because of a set of AFE parts (intake, scoops), AMS catless downpipes and a custom exhaust as per the video’s description. According to the uploader, the Bimmer should now have around 700 HP to throw around which is just right to take on the American, especially since, like we said, the German is heavier.

We won’t share spoilers here but let’s just say the outcome is more than just surprising...
