Electric cars are not the only green vehicles to become extremely popular worldwide by the day. As the world’s population is getting closer and closer to being an urban majority, commuting clean, fast and comfortable is becoming the main interest in the transportation industry. A new e-bike designed by an international team of engineers claims they are looking forward to revolutionizing the two-wheelers with their new product.
Dubbed Trefecta, the futuristic looking e-bike combines high-end technology, lightweight materials and ground breaking engineering. Its creators claim that the 20’’ 7075 aluminum frame adheres the demanding norms of aerospace engineering. All the cables and components are fully integrated which make it a tough e-vehicle and ensure protection from all elements. And if these don’t impress you, the fact that it’s foldable will most likely do.

The hybrid propulsion promises maximum synergy between man and machine. A top-of-the-line pedelec system makes optimal use of human power at low speeds, while the battery capacity and motor power are utilized fully. Its creators - a team of Dutch, German and Swiss engineers - claim that the conversion efficiency of electrical to mechanical power is more than 90%.

Moreover, efficiency is enhanced by a brake-energy recuperation system, thus extending the range of the bike significantly. The e-bike features a custom designed digital CAN-bus based system that is fully integrated, monitoring and displaying every detail. This allows the rider to operate the controls without taking his hands off the handlebars for a second.

In specs, Trefecta is quite impressive. With a Peak motor power of 4kW, the electric two-wheeler is capable of a top speed of 70 km/h (43 mph) and a cruise speed of 55 km/h (34 mph). Without pedaling at all the battery allegedly lasts for 100 km (62 miles). The bike is currently available on preorder online and early rumors are it will come with a $28,000 price tag.
